Turkish houses will have mandatory energy passports
Starting from May 2, every property in Turkey must have a passport for energy efficiency. And it will be impossible to sell or buy real estate in buildings which are not certified and do not have a passport.
According to the new law, since May every building is to be certified for energy efficiency class (there are 7 categories ranging from A to G). The minimal level of energy efficiency is G and the possible maximum one is A. The higher the class is, the more expensive and prestigious property is.
The new law will cover not only new buildings but also houses built before 2011. Experts will evaluate the construction materials, types of radiators, window units, if there are any mechanical floors and other characteristics which affect energy efficiency. And based on the results of the evaluation they will assign an appropriate class of energy efficiency.
