The results of 2016: 1.3 million real estate options were sold in Turkey

2016 finished with a slight increase in the real estate sales (4%) comparing with the previous year. After the dip in July, sales started to grow, especially during the period between September and November. The total number of sold in Turkey properties within the year is 1 341 453 homes. 17.3% of sales were made in Istanbul, 10.8% of homes were sold in Ankara and 6.1% in Izmir. These top-3 cities have remained the same for already several years.

Among the trends for 2016 experts mention the increasing number of sales involving mortgage loans and new houses. This can be explained by the fact that mortgage rates have been reduced. They were already rather low (1-1.2%) and last year they dropped below 1%. As for new housing market, the number of new residential houses constructed in 2016 increased by 5%. In addition to modern convenient housing, developers offer favourable conditions and attractive prices.

At the beginning of 2017 property prices in some regions dropped significantly because of the growth of dollar and euro exchange rate. This fact has allowed investors to acquire real estate at better prices. What does Antalya look like from a height of 605 meters?

Since February 5 you can enjoy the breathtaking views of Antalya. It became possible thanks to the new cable way which was opened on the first Sunday of February. The governor of Antalya Menderes Türel attended the opening ceremony of Sarısu - Tünektepe cable car.

It is worth noting that this project was finally implemented after waiting for over 30 years. Tünektepe is the mountain with a height of 605 meters. It has always been popular with tourists who had to climb the mountain on their own which probably took a lot of time. Now it takes only 9 minutes and 20 seconds to get there. On the top of the mountain it is planned to build viewing points, cafes, recreation areas with special zones for children and various souvenir shops.

During the first week the cable car was available for free. And now the ticket for one person costs 15 TL and 20 TL for two persons. The cable car is available daily from 10.00 to 17.00 and its capacity is approximately 1200 people per hour. You can enjoy the magnificent views over Konyaaltı and Antalya from a panoramic cabin for 8 persons. Tünektepe cable car is serving with 36 cabins.

And in May a cableway will be opened in Alanya.

Turkey attracts tourists by extending scope of jet fuel subsidies

According to Reuters, Turkey has extended the scope of a $ 6 000 financial backing program for tour operators carrying tourists to the country in a bid to revive the tourism sector.

Turkey has already paid $ 6 000 per flight to airlines when flying to airports in Antalya, Alanya, the Aegean resorts of Dalaman, Bodrum, Izmir and the Central Aegean province of Kutahya as well.

Now these subsidies will cover the flights to airports in the Black Sea provinces of Trabzon, Ordu-Giresun, and Samsun’s Çarşamba, the Aegean province of Denizli and some others. The subsidies will be available till the end of the year. Airplanes which carry tourists to Turkey are to have 100-passanger capacity. And a 30 percent increase in the subsidy will be applied for charter flights carrying at least 150 passengers by flights with capacity of at least 200 people.

Such measures will allow tourists to save money on travelling to the best resorts in Turkey.

Being a grandmother is a job. This is what the Minister of Labour and Social Security of Turkey Mehmet Müezzinoğlu thinks. So the Ministry of Labour has developed a new project of financial support of grandmothers who look after their grandchildren while their parents are at work.

This project will be launched in four provinces in March. Its aim is to increase women’s employment and support families. The project will last for half a year. And about 5000 families will take part in it. Grandmothers will be paid 30% of the minimum wage which is approximately 420 TL.

After this pilot project is finished, the financial support program will cover other provinces. It will provide additional jobs for elder women including those who moved to Turkey after buying an apartment in Turkey.
